Yesterday I bought the Sketchbook Pro app for my iPad. One of the main reasons I bought the iPad was to use it as an inexhaustible sketchbook and portfolio. I can use the internet for resource photos, apps for drawing and taking notes, and updating my website from where ever I may be. Still, I love to sketch on good ol' fashioned paper as well. One of my favorites things in the world is a reason to buy a new sketchbook and try a new pen. My drawings of late have been a bit tight though. They're not as loose as I would like. I've taken to drawing with a marker from time to time in order to let go of the fine "sketchy" lines which usually comprise my artwork. Once again another reason I like drawing on the computer. The big, bold, black lines and stark white canvas really feel alive to me. Then I can add color! Below is another quick sketch to stay loose and not use such tight, controlled lines. He started out as the "temporarily tattooed man" but I soon found myself painstakingly drawing in fine little tattoos all over him. Had to let that go.
