day 7 - passive by a perfect circle

Here is the latest cool F Bomb moment in my month-long look at songs with the versatile F-word.

[mp3] Passive - A Perfect Circle
from
Emotive (2004)

This song is perfect aggression.  It's not pretending to be anything it's not.  It's not thoughtful, it's not reflective, it's people falling apart and the aggression that builds.  The aggression builds throughout the song and culminates with: You fucking disappoint me.

The single "Passive" was adapted from the defunct band Tapeworm, a project composed mainly of Keenan, Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, and Danny Lohner. "Passive" first appeared under the title "Vacant" at a show played by A Perfect Circle in Portland, Oregon on January 31, 2001, notably, without the blessing of Reznor to play the song.[29] The song remained unreleased by any artist until it appeared on Emotive as the song "Passive".- wikipedia.org

day 6 - Blood Bank by Bon Iver

Here is the latest cool F Bomb moment in my month-long look at songs with the versatile F-word.

I really like Bon Iver and the title track from 2009's Blood Bank is nothing short of phenomenal.  It's a quiet reflection on the lives we share with one another.

[mp3] Blood Bank - Bon Iver
from Blood Bank (2009)

"That secret that you know / That you don't know how to tell / it fucks with your honor"

The F-word here is well placed in the unassuming, thoughtful verses.  This track is a classic.

day 5 - broken arm by winterpills

Here is the latest cool F Bomb moment in my month-long look at songs with the versatile F-word.

This track from Northampton Mass. band Winterpills is an exploration of frustration and the love/hate relationship between us and the things we need or do to survive: i think i finally understand / the way a broken arm can hate the hand / the way a farmer hates his crop.

mp3] Broken Arm - Winterpills
from The Light Divides (2008)

The culmination of the aforementioned relationship delivers the only use of the F-word in this song: the look of camouflage / on the ones who beg / the decider says i'm a fighter / but i can't feel my fucking legs.  I love the frustration of the reality with-out sounding trite or sophomoric.  Good, good track.

day 4 - Battle flag by pigeonhed

Here is the latest cool F Bomb moment in my month-long look at songs with the versatile F-word.

Today (er...yesterday) we give a listen to Seattle's Pigeonhed.  This a great, rock, funk, soul track that abounds with the leader of all singular cuss words in various forms.

[mp3] Battle Flag - Pigeonhed
from The Full Sentence (1997)

There are so many good F-word moments in this song it's hard to pick out one that stands out the most.  I love the "Hey Mr. Policeman / Is it time for getting away / Is it time for driving down the mother fuckin' road / And running from your ass today" verses.  Hell yeah it is!

day 3 - Little Lion Man by Mumford and Sons

Here is the latest cool F Bomb moment in my month-long look at songs with the versatile F-word.

This track from London folk rockers Mumford And Sons is a more sensitive look into the ever-so-useful F-word.  The song hums along at a decent, dance worthy pace but singer Marcus Mumford's soulful, aching voice hits home the sentiment of things gone wrong.  At first the listener is lead to believe the hard turn of events happened to someone else. Then suddenly the song takes a turn and you realize that the narrator here is the cause of the trouble.  The song seems to have a family feel to it where the singer is dealing with his child and then relating to the spouse.  Regardless, I really like this song.   The "fuck" moment comes into play when things are so rotten and you understand it's your fault.  "Dude, are you fucking this up?"  As it turns out, yes.  Yes I am.

[mp3] Little Lion Man - Mumford And Sons
from Love Your Ground (2008)

"It was not your fault but mine / It was your heart on the line / I really fucked it up this time / didn't I my dear"

Great stuff!
